Preventative maintenance

by | Dec 13, 2022

I bet you have some aspirin or Advil in the medicine cabinet, or maybe your favorite herbal tea will do the trick, if you are feeling under the weather.  Sounds like you are prepared.

What is your plan if the aspirin, advil and herbal tea don’t work?  What if you are not able to take care of yourself or make decisions for yourself?

Are you thinking that will never happen to you?  What if it does?

What is your plan if you are in an accident?

Do you have directives in place so that your best friend or your spouse is legally authorized to make decisions for you?

If you don’t have these directives, then your family will have to go to court to become your guardian.  Only a court appointed guardian can make decisions for you,  if you are incapacitated.

Any idea how much it costs to go to court and be appointed a guardian?  I don’t know either.  I do not do that kind of legal work.

I prefer a preventive maintenance type of law where my clients take time to think and consider who they want to make decisions for them, if they do have an accident.  My clients are prepared if something happens.

If you need to prepare for life’s ups and downs and put your directives in place, please call my office at (907) 334-9200 and ask to schedule a consultation.
